Listening Session

2009-2010 DATES TO BE DETERMINED

BOARD OF EDUCATION LISTENING SESSIONS

Expectations for Listening Sessions

This is to be shared by the designated Board member leading the listening session for the given evening:

§         Listening sessions provide an opportunity to speak directly with Board
members on issues that are important to you, and for us to listen and have
informal and respectful discussions. Those of us in attendance tonight will
pass on your comments and ideas to our colleagues who are unable to join us
       this evening.

§         We request that you sign in when you arrive so we know who is attending these
      sessions.

§         Please understand that these sessions are not to replace the process that
community members, staff and families are encouraged to follow regarding

brining issues, concerns and complaints to the appropriate school, programs or
administrative staff.  If any of you here tonight have confidential issues or topics
requiring a response from district staff, we ask you to complete the Participant
Sign-In Form (yellow sheet) with all your details. We will give all these to the
superintendent for appropriate action and response.

§         We also need to advise you for your own legal protection and the legal rights of
staff, that any complaint or issue related to personnel must be made in writing
and no comments shall include names of any staff.

§         We very much look forward to our time tonight to listen and have respectful
      discussions. Thanks for coming!

Ground Rules

1.      Everyone is encouraged to participate, but also to listen to what others have to say.

2.      Take your turn, and respect and listen to others.

3.      If you don’t understand something, please ask for more information or clarification and we'll do what we can to help.

4.      We're not here to make decisions, so it is OK for people to have a wide range of respectful opinions and perspectives; all are welcome.
